Bringing handball to neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester
Building Stronger Communities Through Handball
The Handball Foundation believes that sport has the power to bring people together. Our community programme is designed to break down barriers and create welcoming spaces where everyone can enjoy handball.
Hub Schools Network
Our 12+ Handball Hub Schools — including Stockport School, Sale High School, and others across Trafford, Stockport, and Manchester — embed handball into the curriculum and extracurricular activities, reaching thousands of young people every year.
Community Hubs
Our community hubs operate across Greater Manchester, offering regular sessions in accessible venues. Each hub is led by qualified coaches and supported by dedicated volunteers. Sessions are designed to be fun, inclusive, and suitable for all skill levels.
Volunteering
We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us grow handball in the community. Whether you have experience in sport or simply want to make a difference, we have a role for you. Volunteers receive training, support, and the chance to be part of something special.
Inclusion and Diversity
Handball is a sport for everyone. We actively work to engage underrepresented groups, including women and girls, people with disabilities, and communities from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Our adapted sessions — including disability handball, visually impaired handball, and walking handball — ensure everyone can participate at their own level.

What We Do
Handball Hub Schools
We operate 12+ Handball Hub Schools across Greater Manchester — including Stockport School and Sale High School — embedding handball into school life and creating pathways into competitive sport.
Community Engagement
We work with local organisations, youth groups, and councils to reach people who might not otherwise have access to sport. Our sessions run in community centres, leisure facilities, and outdoor spaces.
Volunteering
Our 20+ volunteers are the backbone of our community work. From coaching to event support, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
Inclusion & Diversity
We are committed to making handball accessible to everyone — including through disability handball, visually impaired sessions, and walking handball. Our inclusive programme ensures no one is left out.
